Slow aging: how to enhance it

The latest generation of anti-wrinkle cosmetics: “lifting serums”, wink at cosmetic surgery.

Marketing strategies capture the attention of consumers: the syringe that dispenses the product has contributed to generating great expectations from the use of these cosmetics.

However, the expectations are not up to the results obtained.

How Lifting Serums Work

Containing synthetic polymers, lifting serums, once applied, lose liquid components and form a transparent film that produces a fictitious relaxation of wrinkles.

Making wrinkles aesthetically less visible is possible, but filling wrinkles from the outside is quite unlikely. The idea that a single "topical" application can change our features inevitably creates disappointment on the part of the consumer who expects magic and frustration on the part of the formulator who, obviously, is not.

Let's keep our feet on the ground and make the most of what new cosmetic technology can actually offer us, when we can't or don't want to resort to needles (real ones!).

Lifting or filling products are excellent cosmetics that can fulfill, immediately after application, the purpose for which we purchased them:

•  Flattening of wrinkles and skin folds

•  Give your face more shine

They give immediate feedback, act mainly at the epidermal level, and are therefore short-lived: a purely physical, non-curative effect, strictly related to the presence of silicon derivatives that act on the epidermis, relaxing it.

With cleansing they are removed and everything goes back to how it was before!

Useful for a special occasion, for an important evening, in all those cases in which you want to show a more relaxed and fresh face. The effect is more visible in the eye contour, where the skin is much thinner and stretches easily.

Even soft-focus cosmetics are hit-and-run treatments: made up of micronized pigments, they play with light, reflecting it in all directions, making the wrinkle less dark and therefore less visible, hiding dark shadows and evening out the complexion.

So cosmetics are useless?
